The Hippychick Child Hipseat

The Hippychick Hipseat back support belt allows parents the warmth, intimacy and convenience of carrying their child naturally, while considerably reducing back, shoulder, neck and arm muscle strain. Useful for children aged six months to three years old.

The Hipseat is favoured by well over 100 UK osteopaths, chiropractors and physiotherapy practices. It is also extremely popular with professional child carers such as nannies and staff in day centres, nurseries and special schools.

A simple and effective child carrier, which takes the strain out of holding a child close to your body.

How does it work?

The hip seat shifts the weight of a carried child from the neck and spine, and redistributes it around the waist, hips and pelvis. It is pulled tightly around the user's waist and fastened with Velcro and an additional safety strap. It can be used right or left-handed. When sitting astride the Hippychick Hipseat, a child is very comfortable and his or her head is level with the adult's shoulder or chest. The child is automatically drawn to the adult's body by the inward sloping angle of the seat top and can see and hear everything going on around them.

When would I use the hip seat?
  • At home around the house, especially if a child is clingy or needs comforting
  • Shopping when you don't want to take a buggy or pram
  • Walking older children to school, or when anticipating rough terrain, such as the beach or the countryside
  • Public events such as fairs, festivals or events in crowded public buildings where pushchairs etc. would be awkward to move
  • Travelling on buses, trains and in airports etc.

What is it made of?

The Hippychick Hipseat is made of machine washable cordura fabric and foam with Velcro fastenings and a safety strap. It has inward facing pockets for money, keys etc. When your child is older, you can convert the hip seat to a bum bag/money belt or use as a strap-around back support by removing the polystyrene seat shape from its pocket on the belt.
